Fostering support with Matheny Goldmon
We’ve been reflecting on 2020. At best, this year has been surreal and difficult, while for many it has come with even greater hardship and loss. Through all the turmoil and change, Matheny Goldmon has been blessed with good health and continued work. We are grateful to our clients, and the community we serve. Even though we live and work in a community where so many have been able to adapt, there remain many who have immense challenges and needs. This year, as we have contemplated the best way for us to return some of the blessings we’ve received to the community, we have chosen to partner with Kids to Love. During changing and turbulent times, it is often children who are most affected. Foster children, who are already growing up in challenging situations, are particularly impacted. Serving these children is the mission of Kids to Love.
Kids to Love works tirelessly to serve the foster children of North Alabama. Their programs cover everything from supplying backpacks to helping these children find their forever homes. One of their annual programs is providing Christmas presents for many of the children they serve. In lieu of our annual office Christmas Party, our team elected instead to use that money to sponsor a number of these children. Our staff members each selected an ornament representing a specific child and their desired Christmas gifts, and we set them loose to shop. One thing we consistently heard from our team was how much fun it was to pick out gifts, and how everyone tried to get something they thought the children would really love. Now, having never met these children, it is a little hard to be certain if we did a good job! But knowing that a lot of thought and love went into these gifts is important to us. We were able to support 25 children’s Christmas wishes this year!
This year’s deadline to turn in gifts to Kids to Love is coming up tomorrow, December 3rd. We encourage you to visit www.kidstolove.org to see if there is a way you can give back in such an important and meaningful way! Or, certainly keep Kids to Love in mind for next year as you are seeking opportunities to give back. Investing in and caring for the community where you live and work is the best way to improve it. While most of us are ready to turn the page from 2020 to 2021, there is no better time to extend kindness and compassion to our neighbors. We all have the opportunity to provide a glimpse of joy and a measure of hope to many in the community who are enduring struggles. We are so honored to have partnered with Kids to Love in their important work, and hope the children they serve will have their hearts warmed this Christmas.
