This private residence atop Monte Sano Mountain received a complete renovation to the existing 7200 square feet, as well as 1200 new square feet to accommodate a new kitchen and family room. A new outdoor living space surrounding a new pool was to feel like an extension of the home—comfortable, inviting, and suitable for relaxing and entertaining. A new pool house was constructed to feature an outdoor kitchen, as well as associated pool equipment and storage.
To take advantage of mountaintop views, primary living spaces were located along the rear of the house, with the view serving as the focal point in each space. Interior spaces were modified to be practical for everyday use by a busy family while maintaining a formality level appropriate for entertaining guests. Existing interior materials and finishes were updated with low maintenance materials and finishes that will grow with the family and remain fashionable for years to come.
